Ontario HIV Professional Specialty Group
MISSION STATEMENT:
It is the goal of the Ontario HIV Professional Specialty Group to provide a network for pharmacists to share information, gain expertise, and develop and coordinate projects related to the field of HIV/AIDS Pharmaceutical Care in Ontario.
OVERVIEW
The Ontario HIV Professional Specialty Group was established in 1996, and is comprised of pharmacists from any practice site (including community, ambulatory, hospital, long-term care) who have an interest in the field of HIV/AIDS Pharmaceutical Care. Membership in the group is free to any pharmacist in Ontario. As a general member one is entitled to :
- Invites to all meetings and events sponsored by the group
- Electronic correspondence from the group, including educational presentations and meeting minutes
- All networking capabilities of the group.
If one chooses to volunteer to become more actively involved, there are many opportunities to belong to sub-groups working on various projects, presenting case discussions and other educational initiatives. The group’s main objective is to identify and promote the role of the pharmacist as an integral member of the HIV/AIDS healthcare team. - To provide networking opportunities for Ontario pharmacists with a keen interest in HIV treatment and prevention.
- To provide continuing education opportunities for Ontario pharmacists with a keen interest in HIV treatment and prevention.
- To represent and clarify the role of a pharmacist as an integral member of the health care team caring for people living with or at risk of HIV patients in Ontario.
- To act as liaison between Ontario pharmacists working in HIV and other healthcare
professional groups working in this field.
