Deborah Yoong completed her Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, followed by a hospital pharmacy residency at Kingston General Hospital, and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Centre.
Deborah has collaborated in several research projects and publications with a focus on antiretroviral drug interactions, universal antiretroviral access, and HIV prevention. In addition to teaching pharmacy students and residents in the provision of HIV care, she also co-precepts an HIV therapeutics rotation to post-graduate year three family medicine physicians completing the University of Toronto – Ontario HIV Treatment Network HIV Residency in Primary Care Enhanced Skills Program. She serves on several local, provincial, and national committees to enhance the delivery of care.
Deborah practices as a Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner at the Positive Care Clinic at St. Michael’s Hospital, a large urban centre servicing many of Toronto’s marginalized sub-populations. In addition to providing pharmaceutical care to persons living with HIV, she is involved with optimizing the management of co-infections, including viral hepatitis, and other co-morbidities.
