Mr Pierre Giguère has focused his career in the HIV area over the last 15 years. He obtained his Bachelor in Pharmacy at Université Laval in 1993 and completed a Master in Hospital Pharmacy in 1994. Pierre has had the privilege to be involved in the care of thousand of patients at the Immunodeficiency clinic at The Ottawa Hospital.
Pierre has collaborated in over 20 national and international HIV publications. He is an active member of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacy, Canadian HIV/AIDS Pharmacists Network, and Canadian Association for HIV Research.
To further support his research activities, Pierre completed a Master in the Epidemiology and Community Medicine program at the University of Ottawa in 2010. He owns an affiliation at The Ottawa Health Research Institute with the Clinical Epidemiology Unit. In addition to his HIV-related activities, he supports Pharmacy residents in the conduct of research projects associated to the accredited Pharmacy Residency Program. Since 2011, Pierre has expanded his scope of practice. He is associated with the viral hepatitis clinic at The Ottawa Hospital, where he helps with the management of the pharmacotherapy for patients using direct acting antiviral agents (HCV protease inhibitors).
