Michelle Foisy obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Alberta and Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and completed a hospital Pharmacy Residency at the Ottawa General Hospital. Dr. Foisy was one of the first pharmacists in Canada to establish a specialty practice in HIV care, and along with Dr. Tseng, co-founded the Ontario HIV Pharmacists Specialty Group, the Canadian HIV/AIDS Pharmacists Network, and an HIV specialty pharmacy residency which is currently in partnership with McGill University Health Centre and the University of Toronto. Dr. Foisy has presented on and co-authored numerous publications relating to HIV, including drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, and the role of the pharmacist in HIV care. In conjunction with Dr. Tseng, they maintain a comprehensive HIV drug information/interaction website that is accessed by clinicians and specialists internationally. Her interests include adverse drug reactions, antiretroviral drug interactions, perinatal care, and innovative pharmacy practices. Dr. Foisy is a recipient/co-recipient of a number of national and provincial pharmacy awards. In 2007, she was appointed a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists in recognition of her contributions to pharmacy practice.
