MISSION STATEMENT:

It is the goal of the Ontario HIV Professional Specialty Group to provide a network for pharmacists to share information, gain expertise, and develop and coordinate projects related to the field of HIV/AIDS Pharmaceutical Care in Ontario.

OVERVIEW

The Ontario HIV Professional Specialty Group was established in 1996, and is comprised of pharmacists from any practice site (including community, ambulatory, hospital, long-term care) who have an interest in the field of HIV/AIDS Pharmaceutical Care. Membership in the group is free to any pharmacist in Ontario. As a general member one is entitled to :

  • Invites to all meetings and events sponsored by the group
  • Electronic correspondence from the group, including educational presentations and meeting minutes
  • All networking capabilities of the group.

If one chooses to volunteer to become more actively involved, there are many opportunities to belong to sub-groups working on various projects, presenting case discussions and other educational initiatives. The groupโ€™s main objective is to identify and promote the role of the pharmacist as an integral member of the HIV/AIDS healthcare team. FUNCTIONS:

  • To provide a forum for networking of pharmacists with a keen interest in HIV/AIDS in Ontario.
  • To provide a forum for the continuing education of pharmacists with a keen interest in HIV/AIDS in Ontario.
  • To represent and clarify the role of a pharmacist as an integral member of the health care team dealing with HIV/AIDS patients in Ontario.
  • To act as liaison between pharmacists in Ontario, working in HIV/AIDS, with other healthcare
    professional groups working in this field.
